Job Summary

Our client is seeking a dedicated and experienced Maintenance Foreman to lead their Extraction Maintenance Team at a bustling Sugar Mill in Hluhluwe. Role Purpose
As the Maintenance Foreman, you will be responsible for managing the Extraction Maintenance Team, ensuring that all mechanical equipment operates efficiently and effectively. Your leadership will be crucial in maintaining high standards of workmanship, accountability, and safety while driving continuous improvement within the team.
Qualifications and Experience Required
To be considered for this role, you must meet the following qualifications and experience criteria:
- Educational Background:
- A National Diploma or N6 in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
- A Trade Test Certificate in Mechanical Fitting and Turning.
- Professional Experience:
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in the heavy engineering industry, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or foreman role.
Technical Tasks and Responsibilities
In your role as Maintenance Foreman, you will be responsible for a variety of technical tasks and responsibilities that require both strategic thinking and hands-on experience. Key tasks include:
- Planning and Organizing: Effectively plan, prioritize, and organize maintenance tasks while leading and controlling team efforts. Your ability to adapt to changing circumstances will be vital in maintaining operational efficiency.
- Setting Standards: Establish and maintain high standards of workmanship and quality. You will hold your team accountable for achieving these standards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and procedures.
- Equipment Reliability: Maximize equipment reliability and availability by implementing best practices in preventive and predictive maintenance. Your experience in the sugar industry, particularly in the power generation section, will be advantageous in ensuring the longevity and efficiency of equipment.
- Rapid Response: Quickly address equipment issues to minimize downtime and return machinery back to service as swiftly as possible. Your proactive approach to problem-solving will be key to maintaining high production levels.
- Specialized Knowledge: Utilize your knowledge of boiler and turbine maintenance and operations to enhance the efficiency of the mill’s processes. Your expertise will contribute to optimizing energy consumption and reducing operational costs.
- Technology Utilization: Be conversant with planned maintenance systems and ensure the effective use of computer software to track maintenance activities and generate reports.
