Position Summary
As an Installations Electrical Technician, you will play a pivotal role in the successful implementation of electrical projects. Your responsibilities will encompass interpreting electrical design drawings, managing onsite operations, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures. You will work closely with various teams to ensure the smooth transition of machinery from the assembly hall to the commissioning hall, maintaining high-quality standards throughout the process.
Basic Requirements
To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Formal Education:
A qualified Electrical Artisan with formal tertiary education. - Language Proficiency:
- English: Required (reading, writing, and speaking)
- Afrikaans: Optional (reading, writing, and speaking)
- German: Speaking skills are advantageous
- Driver’s License:
A valid Code 8 driver’s license is essential for site travel.
Experience
Ideal candidates will possess a robust background that includes:
- Electrical Design Drawings:
Experience in reading and interpreting electrical design drawings and specifications is critical. - Automation Industry:
3 to 5 years of experience working in the automation industry, with a solid understanding of the technical requirements involved. - Onsite Operations:
A minimum of 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience managing onsite operations, ensuring that projects are executed efficiently and effectively. - Customer Interaction:
Familiarity with interfacing with customers and suppliers to extract and integrate necessary information into assembly methods. - International Experience:
Previous international travel experience is preferred, as this role may involve working at various locations globally.
Job Objectives
In this role, your primary objectives will include:
- Ensuring that all project requirements, including budgets and timelines, are met while maintaining high standards of quality.
- Managing your time and work environment effectively, ensuring adherence to housekeeping and safety protocols.
- Successfully transitioning machinery from the assembly area to the commissioning area.
- Assisting with any modifications and updates provided by electrical designers to enhance project outcomes.
Main Responsibilities
Your day-to-day tasks will involve a variety of responsibilities, including:
- Project Management:
Overseeing electrical requirements and instructions, ensuring alignment with short- and long-term project goals. - Electrical Wiring:
Electrically wiring machinery according to provided drawings and documentation, ensuring compliance with electrical design specifications. - Health and Safety Compliance:
Following all health and safety procedures to ensure that the assembly processes yield high-quality, safe products. - Documentation Management:
Documenting assembly restrictions, managing requirements, and controlling delays through effective communication with management and colleagues. - Budget and Timeline Adherence:
Working within established project budgets and timelines while ensuring that all facility quality requirements are met. - Process Improvement:
Developing and driving improvements in manufacturing and assembly methods, continuously seeking ways to enhance operational efficiency. - Collaboration with Designers:
Collaborating with designers and manufacturing resources to ensure that product designs are optimized for efficient assembly. - Operational Planning:
Assisting in planning operational requirements, including workforce utilization, space allocation, and workflow layout to maximize efficiency. - Repair and Maintenance:
Participating in the repair of any damaged goods or addressing problem areas to facilitate smooth project progress. - Testing and Quality Assurance:
Conducting tests on sub-assembly units and complete facilities to ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, and customer requirements. - Feedback and Communication:
Providing ongoing feedback to the I&C Manager regarding project progress and any challenges encountered. - Customer Liaison:
Occasionally liaising with customers to discuss project status and address any inquiries. - Quality System Support:
Supporting the Jendamark Quality System (JQS) and adhering to the company’s code of conduct and policies.
