Position Overview

Life Healthcare is offering an exciting opportunity for unemployed HR learners to participate in a learnership program at Life St Dominic’s Hospital in East London. This program is part of the HWSETA (Health and Welfare Sector Education and Training Authority) initiative and provides the opportunity for an HR learner to gain valuable work experience while completing their qualifications. The program will begin in February 2025 and will run for 18 months. During this time, learners will receive hands-on training across various areas of Human Resources.

Key Responsibilities

As part of this HR TVET learnership program, the successful candidate will gain practical experience in the following areas of HR management:

  • Recruitment & Selection: Assisting with the recruitment process, including job postings, interviews, and selection of candidates.
  • Employee Relations/Industrial Relations: Gaining exposure to managing workplace relationships and handling employee-related issues.
  • Employee Productivity & Wellness: Supporting initiatives aimed at improving employee well-being and performance.
  • Leadership & Communication: Learning leadership techniques and effective communication strategies in HR.
  • Skills & Talent Development: Participating in talent development activities such as training programs and employee assessments.
  • Payroll & HR Administration: Assisting with payroll processes and other HR administrative tasks.

Throughout the 18-month program, learners will receive:

  • Individualized coaching to support the completion of unit standards and the portfolio of HR evidence.
  • A monthly learner stipend to assist with living expenses.
  • Access to technical skills training and development opportunities within the HR field.

Requirements

  • The learner must be unemployed at the time of application.
  • The candidate must have completed the N6 theory in Human Resources from a public TVET college.
  • The learner must provide a recent letter from the educational institution requesting work experience.
  • The 18-month work experience must be completed to meet graduation requirements.
  • Applicants must not have previously benefited from an HWSETA work experience grant.
  • The learner must be eligible to participate in the HWSETA program.
