Position Overview
Life Healthcare is seeking a Registered Nurse to join the MICU (Medical Intensive Care Unit) – Section A team at Life Cosmos Hospital in Mpumalanga. Reporting to the Unit Manager, Ella Masimula, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in line with clinical protocols and the hospital’s strategic objectives. The role involves managing patient care, ensuring adherence to infection control practices, and contributing to the overall quality of care in the ICU environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Effective Cost Management:
- Evaluate and manage employee labor hours, minimizing unnecessary stock wastage.
- Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and optimize resource usage.
- Provide Quality Patient Care:
- Ensure all nursing staff undergo department-specific orientation.
- Conduct daily care rounds and address any patient or family complaints.
- Assist doctors in daily cases and medical procedures as required.
- Provide accurate, comprehensive information to patients and families during hospitalization.
- Risk Management (SHEQ & Infection Control):
- Monitor and implement preventative measures to minimize risk to patients and staff.
- Maintain high cleanliness and hygiene standards within the unit to adhere to infection control policies.
- Ensure compliance with ISO requirements for infection control.
- Effective Stakeholder Relationships:
- Identify and accommodate doctors’ preferences and stakeholders’ needs in the working environment.
Requirements
- Relevant Degree or Diploma in Nursing.
- At least 2 years of experience in ICU nursing is essential.
- ICU qualification is required.
- Current registration with the relevant professional or regulatory body.
- Knowledge of the private healthcare industry and its challenges is an advantage.
- Proficiency in computer use for documentation and reporting.
