Position Overview
Life Healthcare is seeking an Enrolled Nurse to join the Maternity unit at Life Cosmos Hospital in Mpumalanga. Reporting to Unit Manager Anna Marie Viljoen, the selected candidate will play a key role in supporting the nursing team and facilitating effective patient care. This position is ideal for a dedicated nursing professional who thrives in a team-oriented environment and has a passion for obstetric care.
Key Responsibilities
The Enrolled Nurse in Maternity will focus on providing comprehensive support to patients and the multi-disciplinary team.
1. Patient Care and Nursing Duties
- Nursing Care Delivery: Provide quality nursing care to maternity patients in line with the Scope of Practice and Life Healthcare standards.
- Basic Nursing Duties: Execute assigned duties, from basic care to assisting in routine procedures.
- Professional Relationships: Maintain positive relationships with patients, families, doctors, and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care.
- Customer Satisfaction: Prioritize patient comfort and satisfaction, responding effectively to inquiries and addressing any concerns.
2. Record-Keeping and Documentation
- Accurate Documentation: Ensure accurate and timely completion of patient records, supporting continuity of care.
- Interdepartmental Communication: Facilitate communication within the Maternity unit and liaise with other departments to streamline patient care.
3. Safety and Infection Control Compliance
- Health and Safety Policies: Adhere to hospital safety guidelines and infection control policies, creating a safe and hygienic environment.
- Supervision and Guidance: Oversee and guide junior staff or assistants, providing necessary training and support.
Qualifications and Requirements
To qualify for this role, applicants should meet the following requirements:
- Registration with SANC: Must be a registered Enrolled Nurse with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
- Experience in Obstetric Nursing: Previous experience in obstetrics is essential to provide specialized maternity care.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the Maternity unit.
