Key Responsibilities
As the Installations Mechanical Technician, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that are crucial to our operational success. Your main responsibilities will include:
- Assembly Management: Oversee the mechanical assembly requirements, ensuring that all instructions are followed accurately to meet both short- and long-term project objectives. You will work closely with project drawings and documentation to assemble facilities that meet functional, quality, and dimensional requirements.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Follow health and safety procedures rigorously, adhering to all assembly safety practices to ensure that a high-quality and safe product is produced.
- Documentation and Communication: Maintain proper documentation of assembly processes and restrictions. You will be expected to manage requirements effectively and communicate any delays or issues to management and colleagues in a timely manner.
- Project Management: Work within the project’s budget and timelines, ensuring that the company’s project goals are consistently met or exceeded. Develop, track, evaluate, and implement improvements in manufacturing and assembly methods to enhance efficiency.
- Collaboration with Designers: Confer with designers and manufacturing resources regarding product design to ensure that assembly processes are both efficient and correct.
- Operational Planning: Assist in planning total operational requirements, including workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow layout to maximize efficiency.
- Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct testing of sub-assembly units and complete facilities to ensure compliance with project, marketing, safety, product, and customer requirements.
- On-Site Work: You may be required to work on-site both locally and internationally, liaising with customers as necessary.
Minimum Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Educational Background: A formal tertiary qualification as a qualified Mechanical Artisan is required. Your educational background will provide the foundation for your technical expertise.
- Language Proficiency: Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) is essential. Knowledge of Afrikaans is optional, while the ability to speak German would be advantageous.
- Driver’s License: A valid Code 8 driver’s license is required for transportation purposes.
- Experience: You should have a minimum of 5 years of experience as a Mechanical Artisan, specifically in assembly, installation, and fault finding within the mechanical industry. Experience in the automation industry is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in measuring and alignment procedures, as well as the ability to read and interpret mechanical design drawings, is crucial. You should also have experience interfacing with external customers and suppliers to incorporate information into existing assembly methods.
- Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with safety procedures within JMK and customer sites is essential, along with experience working with ISO systems and OSH, NOSA standards.
