Position Overview
Life Mount Edgecombe Hospital is hiring a Mechanical Artisan (HVAC) to maintain and ensure the continuous availability of mechanical services essential for hospital infrastructure. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, Thobekani Dlamini, this role supports high standards in healthcare and a technologically advanced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance and Repairs: Maintain and repair mechanical systems, including HVAC units, compressors, autoclaves, vacuum pumps, kitchen equipment, and hot/cold-water reticulation.
- Independent Functioning: Operate autonomously in a service environment while ensuring effective feedback and completion of daily job cards.
- Inventory Control: Manage stock and inventory for mechanical parts and equipment.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS) and Life Healthcare’s risk management standards.
- On-Call Duties: Be available for after-hour standby and call-outs as needed.
- Assistance in Additional Tasks: Provide support for related tasks as assigned by management.
Requirements
- Education: Minimum N5 qualification in Mechanical Engineering with a Trade Test certificate.
- Experience: At least three years in engineering maintenance, preferably in a hospital or similar environment.
- Technical Skills: Familiarity with a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ideally SAP PM.
- Other: Valid driver’s license and access to personal transportation.
