Key Responsibilities
As a Dealership Parts Storeman, you will be responsible for a wide range of tasks that are critical to the efficient functioning of the dealership’s parts department. These include:
1. Inventory Management:
- Oversee the daily management of parts inventory to ensure that all stock is properly organized and accounted for.
- Maintain accurate records of parts in stock, parts received, and parts distributed to other departments or customers.
- Conduct regular stock counts and audits to prevent discrepancies and ensure that stock levels are accurate.
2. Receiving and Dispatching Parts:
- Receive parts from suppliers and ensure they are checked against delivery notes and purchase orders.
- Properly label and store parts in their designated areas to ensure easy access for the service team and customers.
- Ensure that outgoing parts are packed correctly and delivered to the appropriate destination within specified timelines.
3. Customer and Departmental Service:
- Assist service advisors and customers in identifying and locating the correct parts for their vehicles.
- Work closely with the workshop and service departments to ensure that they have the parts needed to complete repairs and maintenance on time.
- Address any issues related to parts availability or delays in delivery, providing solutions to minimize disruption to service operations.
4. Using Dealer Management Systems (DMS):
- Utilize the dealership’s dealer management system (DMS), particularly the Evolve system, to manage parts stock, orders, and records.
- Input and update data into the system to ensure that the dealership’s records are accurate and up-to-date.
5. Ensuring Compliance and Safety:
- Follow all safety protocols when handling automotive parts, especially heavy or hazardous materials.
- Ensure that the parts department complies with dealership policies and industry regulations, particularly concerning health and safety standards.
Minimum Requirements
To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following requirements:
Experience:
- 2-3 years’ experience as a Parts Storeman is essential.
- Dealership experience will be considered a strong advantage, providing insight into the unique challenges and demands of a dealership parts department.
- Experience working with the dealer management system Evolve will also be advantageous, helping you hit the ground running.
Qualifications:
- A Grade 12 qualification is required.
- A valid Driver’s License is essential for this role, as you may be required to move parts between different locations or departments.
Skills:
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities to manage inventory effectively and maintain the stockroom.
- Excellent attention to detail to ensure that parts are correctly recorded, stored, and delivered.
- Good communication skills to interact with various departments, suppliers, and customers.
- The ability to work under pressure, particularly when handling urgent requests from the service department.
