We are searching for a highly skilled Executive Chef to join our team in Boshoek, North West. Key Responsibilities:

  1. Food Quality and Presentation:
  • Ensure that all dishes are prepared and presented to the highest quality standards, making sure they are not only delicious but also visually appealing.
  1. Kitchen Operations & Efficiency:
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring it runs smoothly and efficiently. This includes managing kitchen staff, coordinating their tasks, and improving productivity.
  1. Menu Innovation & Development:
  • Regularly update the restaurant’s menu with new, innovative dishes. Create recipes that keep up with food trends while maintaining the essence of the restaurant’s cuisine.
  1. Cost Control & Budget Management:
  • Develop strategies to control food costs without compromising the quality of ingredients or dishes. Work closely with management to meet financial goals.
  1. Health and Safety Compliance:
  • Ensure the kitchen adheres to all food safety, health, and hygiene regulations. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment at all times.
  1. Staff Training & Development:
  • Train, mentor, and develop kitchen staff. Provide regular feedback and support to ensure the team consistently improves their skills and stays motivated.
  1. Waste Management:
  • Implement systems to minimize food waste, ensuring the kitchen operates efficiently and sustainably.
  1. Supplier Management:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring the restaurant receives high-quality ingredients from reliable sources at the best possible prices.
  1. Customer Feedback:
  • Monitor customer feedback regarding the food, making adjustments as necessary to meet customer expectations and enhance their dining experience.
  1. Stock Management:
    • Conduct weekly stock takes and daily inventory counts. Ensure that ingredients are used efficiently and stock levels align with sales.
  2. Food Safety & Cleanliness:
    • Strictly enforce all food safety standards, ensuring that the kitchen is clean and that all dishes are prepared in line with certification requirements.
  3. Adherence to Health & Safety Protocols:
    • Ensure that all health and safety protocols are followed meticulously, from proper food storage to hygiene practices.
  4. Recipe Consistency & Timing:
    • Maintain consistency by strictly adhering to recipes, ensuring dishes are prepared on time and to standard.
  5. Quality Checks:
    • Conduct quality checks on every dish before it leaves the kitchen to guarantee customer satisfaction.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Culinary Degree or Equivalent:
    A degree in culinary arts or an equivalent qualification is preferred.
  • Proven Experience:
    At least five years of experience as an Executive Chef, ideally in a large hotel or restaurant within the hospitality industry.
  • Menu Development:
    Expertise in creating and updating innovative, appealing menus that reflect current culinary trends while meeting customer demands.
  • Leadership Skills:
    Strong leadership abilities, with experience managing large kitchen teams and motivating staff to deliver their best work.
  • Cost Control:
    Knowledge of budget management, food cost control, and efficient kitchen operations.
  • Health & Safety Knowledge:
    Proficiency in food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards. Familiarity with local health regulations and the ability to enforce them.
  • Communication Skills:
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for effectively managing kitchen staff and working closely with restaurant management.
  • Time Management:
    Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment, managing time effectively to ensure all kitchen operations run smoothly.
  • Experience in High-End or Luxury Hospitality:
    Previous experience working in a luxury hotel or high-end restaurant setting is highly desirable.
  • Transportation:
    Having your own transport and a valid driver’s license is an advantage but not mandatory.

Salary:

  • Approximate salary is around R30,000 per month, but this can be negotiated based on experience and qualifications.
