Job Overview
Life Riverfield Lodge is seeking a dynamic and experienced Registered Nurse specialized in Psychiatric care. Reporting to the Unit Manager, Linda Elsey, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering high-quality, compassionate patient care while supporting the facility’s goals for quality, growth, and community impact.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Patient Care
- Collaborate with the Unit Manager to ensure optimal use of labor hours and maintain a safe environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Implement and coordinate nursing care plans to achieve clinical outcomes.
- Adhere to Life Healthcare policies, protocols, and quality management systems.
- Prioritize patient safety, confidentiality, and satisfaction.
- Manage and monitor stock according to unit-specific policies.
- Promote a safe workplace by completing alerts and incident reports.
Team and Stakeholder Engagement
- Build and sustain professional relationships with doctors, patients, and other stakeholders.
- Conduct in-service orientation on unit-specific protocols and preferences.
- Actively participate in a multi-disciplinary team environment to provide comprehensive care.
Development and Leadership
- Initiate ongoing training and development for self and staff to encourage growth.
- Demonstrate leadership skills with a focus on patient care and clinical quality.
Requirements
- Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Nursing, current SANC registration. Post-basic training in psychiatry is an advantage.
- Experience: Psychiatric nursing experience is highly preferred.
- Skills: Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills, with a customer-oriented approach.
- Other: Ability to work under pressure and adapt in a changing environment. Basic understanding of labor legislation is advantageous.
