Position Overview

Life Healthcare is seeking a skilled Mechanical Artisan to join its team at Life Queenstown Private Hospital. The role supports continuous mechanical services for hospital infrastructure, aiming to provide high standards of care in a technologically advanced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance and Reliability: Conduct daily, weekly, monthly, and annual maintenance on mechanical equipment to ensure reliability and prevent breakdowns.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve mechanical issues using precision tools and testing equipment.
• Inventory and Documentation: Maintain records of maintenance activities and manage inventory, ensuring timely ordering and receipt of parts.
• Compliance and Safety: Follow all regulations, including SANS10142, R158, NBR, and Health and Safety protocols. Conduct risk assessments before maintenance tasks.
• Contractor Management: Oversee contractors on-site, ensuring they follow safety rules and quality standards.
• Reporting and Communication: Document maintenance activities, maintain continuity among teams, and prepare maintenance reports.
• Technical Skills Application: Provide hands-on maintenance for HVAC units, VRF, VRV, heat pumps, generators, vacuum pumps, and compressors.

Requirements

• Education: Matric/Grade 12 and N5 or National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience: Trade Test in Mechanical Engineering and experience in HVAC, commercial, and industrial maintenance; at least five years of experience, preferably in a hospital or similar environment.
• Licenses: Valid driver’s license and own vehicle.
• Skills: Strong problem-solving, communication, and task management skills; adherence to safe working practices.
• Availability: Able to perform standby duties and handle after-hours callouts.
