Job Description
As a Steward in the Back of House (BOH) at The Links, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the kitchen and restaurant teams. You will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and functionality of the kitchen and public areas, as well as managing equipment and utensils necessary for the smooth operation of the service team. In this role, your attention to detail and your ability to work efficiently under pressure will be key to maintaining the high standards that Fancourt is known for.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handling of Small Wares: You’ll be responsible for ensuring the proper handling of small wares such as glassware, cutlery, and plates to minimize breakage and loss. Proper care and attention in this area will contribute to maintaining the high-quality service equipment at The Links.
- Supplying Service Areas: You will regularly supply the various service outlets with necessary items such as silverware, china, and glassware to ensure smooth operations. Your role will be key to ensuring that service staff are always equipped with what they need to provide exceptional service to guests.
- Maintaining Cleanliness: The cleanliness of the kitchen and public areas will be your responsibility. This includes ensuring that all spaces are kept to a high standard of cleanliness, contributing to both the safety and overall guest experience.
- Maintaining Kitchen Equipment: You will ensure that all kitchen equipment and fixtures are in proper working condition. This includes performing routine checks and promptly reporting any issues to the relevant teams to prevent disruptions in the kitchen’s operations.
- Health and Safety Compliance: Fulfilling health and safety requirements is a vital part of this role. You’ll help ensure that the kitchen and related areas comply with all health and safety audits, contributing to a safe and efficient work environment.
Candidate Requirements
The ideal candidate for this role is someone who can thrive in a demanding and fast-paced environment. You should have a passion for maintaining high standards and a willingness to take on various tasks that contribute to the overall efficiency of the kitchen and service teams. Specific requirements include:
- Educational Qualifications: A minimum of a Grade 10 or equivalent is required for this position. Additional training or qualifications in hospitality or kitchen work will be a distinct advantage.
- Previous Experience: While not mandatory, having experience in a 4-star or 5-star environment will be beneficial. Experience in general cleaning and kitchen maintenance roles will also be highly regarded.
- Physical Requirements: You should be physically fit, as the role involves handling heavy utensils, food produce, and kitchen equipment. The ability to lift and carry heavy items, and work for extended hours, is crucial.
- Flexibility: As this role is based at a high-end hospitality venue, you’ll need to be flexible with your working hours. This includes being available to work weekends, public holidays, and shifts.
