We are recruiting a Regional Sales Manager for our client in the automotive (trucking) sector. Based in Kempton Park, this role is integral to ensuring the company’s regional sales strategy is successfully implemented, fostering dealer relationships, and leading a high-performing sales team. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a deep understanding of the commercial vehicle industry, this could be the perfect fit for you.

Job Description:

As the Regional Sales Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the sales operations for the company’s dealerships and branches within your region. You will be responsible for ensuring that dealers achieve their sales targets, developing business plans, and maintaining optimal customer relationships. Your expertise will guide the team in delivering a high standard of service, meeting financial goals, and enhancing the company’s brand reputation.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Dealer Support & Staff Development:
  • Ensure that all dealers and branch staff have a thorough understanding of the company’s policies and procedures, particularly concerning sales and aftersales services.
  • Work closely with Dealer Principals (DPs) to create and execute comprehensive training plans for their staff. Ensure the team stays up to date with the latest industry trends and internal processes.
  • Participate in training programs to maintain a high level of competence, while mentoring internal staff to ensure robust succession planning.
  • Actively monitor staff morale within dealerships and branches, addressing any potential issues that may negatively affect the company’s brand or operational success.
  1. Sales Target Achievement:
  • Collaborate with dealers to ensure they meet or exceed their vehicle sales targets.
  • Provide consistent guidance and support to develop effective sales strategies, enhancing overall performance.
  1. Financial Management & Budgeting:
  • Take responsibility for managing operational budgets related to travel, vehicle usage, and other expenses. Ensure that all costs remain within the allocated budget, implementing cost-saving initiatives where necessary.
  • Monitor and manage dealers’ debtor books, ensuring that payments for parts and vehicle stock are made in a timely manner, per company policies (e.g., parts purchases settled within 30 days, vehicle invoices settled within 48 hours).
  • Oversee asset management, including the proper use of loan and demo vehicles within the region. Ensure adherence to agreed usage timelines, and conduct return assessments as required.
  1. Dealer Visits & Feedback:
  • Visit each dealer in the region at least six times a year. During these visits, provide detailed feedback via a structured template, addressing key performance areas such as branding, customer service, and operational issues.
  • Support dealers in developing comprehensive business plans to drive improvement across all aspects of their operations. Regularly evaluate progress on these plans, conducting monthly or quarterly follow-ups.
  1. Problem Solving & Brand Protection:
  • Work closely with dealers to identify and address any business challenges they face. Apply the PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) cycle to ensure issues are resolved effectively, protecting the company’s brand and reputation.
  • Collaborate with the company’s head office to implement countermeasures for any issues identified at the dealership level.
  1. Marketing & Brand Awareness:
  • Partner with the internal marketing team to ensure that all marketing efforts are aligned with regional needs and are successfully implemented at the dealer level.
  • Promote the company’s brand across all marketing channels and dealer activities, boosting sales and customer engagement.
  1. Customer Relationship Management:
  • Ensure customer complaints are managed professionally and resolved promptly. Maintain positive relationships with key customers to foster long-term loyalty.
  • Work with dealers and branches to secure and retain key accounts, participating in alternate visits with key accounts to maintain solid relationships.
  1. Industry Knowledge & Expertise:
  • Stay informed about the latest developments in the automotive and trucking industry. Share industry insights with colleagues to enhance overall business strategies.
  • Act as a subject matter expert for both internal teams and the dealer network, providing specialized knowledge to improve sales performance.
