Key Responsibilities
As a Qualified Tractor Mechanic, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Servicing Agricultural Tractors:
You will conduct comprehensive services on a diverse range of tractor brands, ensuring each machine operates at peak performance. - Troubleshooting and Diagnostics:
You will be tasked with diagnosing mechanical failures on tractors and their components. Your keen analytical skills will be essential in accurately identifying issues and proposing effective solutions. - Record Keeping:
After assessing faults, you will maintain detailed records of parts required for repairs and the steps taken during maintenance. Accurate documentation is crucial for effective workflow management and compliance with company policies. - Repairs and Maintenance:
Your work will cover a wide range of repairs—from minor adjustments to complete engine overhauls. This includes:
- Transmission and clutch repairs
- Basic electrical system diagnostics and fixes
- Replacement or repair of worn or damaged components on tractors and agricultural implements
- Pre-delivery Inspections:
Conduct thorough inspections on tractors and equipment before they are delivered to clients, ensuring everything is in optimal working condition. - Welding Tasks:
Although our company employs a dedicated welder, you should be able to perform limited welding tasks in the field when necessary, such as repairing defective body or frame parts. - Maintenance of Agricultural Implements:
Carry out maintenance and repairs on various agricultural equipment and implements to ensure they meet safety and operational standards. - Job Management:
You will need to prioritize tasks based on urgency, customer needs, and your assigned workload. Effective time management skills will be essential to ensure all responsibilities are handled promptly and efficiently.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this position, candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Qualification:
A Trade Tested qualification as a tractor or diesel mechanic is essential. - Experience:
A minimum of five years of relevant experience, particularly within the agricultural sector, is required. Experience working with a variety of tractor brands, including Massey Ferguson, Landini, New Holland, and Case, will be beneficial. - Language Proficiency:
Fluency in both Afrikaans and English is necessary for effective communication with clients and team members. - Driver’s License:
A valid driver’s license is a must, as the role may require travel to various job sites. - Independence and Teamwork:
The ideal candidate should possess the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
