Position Summary
As a Manual Lathe Turning Artisan, your primary responsibility will be to operate manual lathes for the fabrication of various components. Basic Requirements
To be eligible for this position, candidates must meet the following basic qualifications:
- Education: A formal tertiary qualification as a qualified artisan in Tool Making or Turner Machinist.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 to 5 years of post-qualification experience in a machining or tool-making environment.
- Raw Material Handling: Proficiency in handling raw materials, ensuring they are correctly prepared and utilized in the manufacturing process.
- Machine Operation: Proven experience in operating manual lathe machines, showcasing your skill and competence in machining.
- Job Planning: Ability to effectively plan and execute machining tasks based on mechanical drawings.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in reading mechanical manufacturing drawings and translating them into actionable plans.
- Accuracy and Timeliness: Strong focus on accuracy and the ability to meet deadlines consistently.
- Languages: Proficiency in English is required (reading, writing, and speaking). Knowledge of Afrikaans is optional.
- Driver’s License: A valid Code 8 driver’s license is necessary for this role.
Job Objectives
The successful candidate (Toolmaker, Fitter and Turner, Turner Machinist) will be expected to demonstrate the following capabilities:
- Drawing Interpretation: Be adept at reading and interpreting mechanical drawings accurately, ensuring that tasks are executed precisely as specified.
- Lathe Operation: Operate manual lathes for the production of all assigned components, ensuring adherence to quality and safety standards.
- Quality Maintenance: Maintain the quality and tolerances stipulated for all tasks, ensuring that each component meets the required specifications.
- Project Timeliness: Complete assigned tasks within the project timelines, contributing to overall project efficiency and success.
