About the Role

As a Junior Accountant, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our organization. Key Responsibilities

In this position, you will be responsible for several key tasks, including:

1. Accounting Reconciliations:

• You will regularly reconcile accounts to ensure that all financial records are accurate. This involves comparing entries in our accounting system with bank statements and other financial documents. Identifying and correcting discrepancies is a critical part of maintaining our financial integrity.

1. Full Debtors and Creditors Function:

• Managing both debtors and creditors is an essential part of your role. You will handle the invoicing process, ensuring that payments are received on time and that outstanding debts are followed up promptly. Additionally, you will process supplier invoices and payments, maintaining good relationships with vendors and ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.

1. Payroll Processing:

• You will assist with payroll administration, which includes calculating salaries, deductions, and ensuring timely payments to employees. Understanding payroll legislation and compliance is vital in this task to guarantee that all employees are paid accurately and on time.

1. Value-Added Tax (VAT):

• Handling VAT submissions will be part of your responsibilities. You will prepare and submit accurate VAT returns, ensuring compliance with the South African Revenue Service (SARS) regulations. Keeping up with changes in VAT legislation is important to avoid penalties and ensure proper reporting.

1. SARS Submissions:

• You will also be involved in preparing various tax-related documents and submissions to SARS. This includes ensuring that all tax obligations are met and that records are kept up to date for audit purposes.

Qualifications

To be considered for this role, candidates should meet the following requirements:

• Experience:
• A minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant accounting experience is preferred. Experience in the telecommunications or construction industries will be an advantage, as these sectors have unique accounting requirements.
• Educational Background:
• A diploma in Finance or a related field is essential. This educational foundation will equip you with the necessary knowledge to handle accounting tasks effectively.
