Role Overview
As a Group Accountant, you will play a crucial role in driving financial controls and ensuring operational efficiency across the company. Your responsibilities will encompass a broad spectrum of financial functions, making your position vital for maintaining the integrity of financial operations. Key Responsibilities
In this multifaceted role, your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Participation in Operational Meetings: You will be involved in key operational meetings and workshops, providing financial insights and recommendations that align with business objectives. Your input will be crucial in driving informed decision-making across departments.
- Ensuring Strong Financial Controls: You will be responsible for establishing and maintaining robust financial controls that meet business requirements. Your ability to analyze and refine existing processes will be essential in promoting efficiency and accuracy.
- Stakeholder Interaction: Building strong relationships with internal stakeholders will be a priority. You will provide support and guidance to various teams, helping them understand financial information and addressing any queries they may have.
- Communication of Financial Findings: You will regularly communicate your findings and provide standardized finance key performance indicators (KPIs) to the team, ensuring that everyone is informed and aligned.
- Review of Financial Controls: A critical part of your role will involve reviewing all financial controls within the group to ensure they are designed effectively and executed efficiently. You will work to identify areas for improvement and implement necessary changes.
- Adherence to Financial Controls: It is imperative that financial controls are effectively communicated and adhered to across the organization. You will play a key role in ensuring compliance and fostering a culture of accountability.
- General Ledger Structure: You will continuously assist in reviewing the General Ledger (GL) structure to ensure it meets the evolving needs of the business.
- Monthly Reconciliations: You will be responsible for completing and reviewing monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Month-End Management: Overseeing the month-end process will be a significant part of your duties, including management of forecasting, ad-hoc reporting, and the budget process. Your attention to detail will ensure timely and accurate reporting.
- Statutory and Compliance Support: You will assist with various statutory compliance matters, including insurance and other regulatory requirements. Your knowledge of the industry will be invaluable in navigating these processes.
- BBBEE Management and Reporting: Your involvement in BBBEE (Broad-Based Black Economic Empowerment) management and reporting will be critical to the company’s commitment to social responsibility and inclusivity.
- Audit Process Management: You will manage the audit process, liaising with auditors and ensuring that all necessary documentation and information are readily available. Your organizational skills will help facilitate a smooth audit experience.

Qualifications and Skills
To be successful in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Experience: A minimum of five years of accounting experience is required, with a background in a Group or Shared Services company being highly advantageous.
- Control Efficiency: Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain efficient controls within a Group environment.
- Month-End Process Management: Proficiency in managing the month-end process, including monthly reporting and financial analysis.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with various teams.
- BBBEE Reporting Experience: Familiarity with BBBEE reporting and compliance will be beneficial.
- Educational Background: A degree in Finance is essential. Candidates who have completed SAIPA or SAICA articles will have an added advantage.
