Position Overview

The role of an Electrician Technician is vital for the smooth running of various automation and electrical projects. As a contract employee, you will collaborate with engineers, electrical designers, and the head of departments to ensure that projects are executed effectively and within the defined timeframes, budgets, and safety requirements. You will be responsible for interpreting electrical design drawings, managing on-site installations, and ensuring that equipment is properly wired and assembled.

This position will require both local and international travel, and the candidate must be willing to work within different environments while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

As an Electrician Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Project Execution: Working within the project’s specifications, timing, and budgetary constraints to meet or exceed the company’s project objectives. This includes moving machinery from assembly to commissioning stages and making any necessary modifications according to the electrical designs.
• Electrical Assembly: You will work directly with electrical design drawings to wire machinery and ensure compliance with assembly procedures. This involves interfacing with both customers and suppliers to extract vital information and incorporate it into existing methods.
• Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety protocols is critical, both on-site and in the assembly process. Ensuring that you follow all health and safety procedures not only guarantees a high-quality product but also ensures a safe working environment for all staff.
• Documentation: Maintaining thorough documentation is a key part of your role. This includes recording any assembly restrictions, managing project requirements, and addressing potential delays. Clear communication and timely feedback to management and colleagues are essential to ensure smooth project progression.
• Testing and Quality Control: You will be responsible for testing sub-assembly units and complete facilities to verify that they meet project, customer, and safety requirements.
• Design and Process Improvement: You’ll collaborate with designers to review product designs and provide feedback for more efficient assembly processes. Additionally, you will contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives in manufacturing and assembly methods, ensuring any design changes are properly installed.
• On-Site Work: You will be required to work on-site, both locally and internationally, installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting electrical systems in line with project requirements.
• Customer Interaction: Occasionally, you will liaise with customers to address project requirements, updates, and feedback, ensuring all expectations are met.
• Support Systems: You will also support the Jendamark Quality System (JQS), ensuring compliance with the company’s Code of Conduct and all relevant policies.

Candidate Requirements

We are looking for candidates who possess the following qualifications, skills, and experience:

Education and Qualifications

• Formal Tertiary Education: Must be a qualified Electrical Artisan with recognized certification or qualifications in electrical engineering.

Experience

• 3-5 Years of Experience: Proven work experience in the automation industry, particularly with on-site operations.
• Experience with Drawings: You must be able to read and interpret electrical design drawings and incorporate external information from customers and suppliers.
• International Experience: Experience working abroad will be beneficial, as this role involves travel.
• Safety Procedures: Familiarity with safety procedures, both within JMK guidelines and on customer sites, is critical.

Language Skills

• English: Required—must be able to read, write, and speak English fluently.
• Afrikaans: Optional—an added advantage.
• German: Speaking skills will be considered advantageous for international projects.

Other Requirements

• Driver’s License: Code 8 license is required.
• Passport: Must have a valid passport and be willing to travel, both locally and internationally.
