What Does the Role Entail?
As the Dealership Parts Manager, you will oversee the dealership’s parts department, managing the inventory and ensuring timely delivery of parts to internal departments and customers. Your role will involve working closely with other departments to maintain high customer satisfaction and ensuring that the department operates efficiently.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and has a deep understanding of automotive parts. You’ll need to manage a team, handle supplier relationships, and ensure the parts department contributes to the overall profitability of the dealership.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Maintain an accurate and efficient parts inventory, ensuring that all parts are readily available and ordered on time to meet the dealership’s needs. You’ll need to monitor stock levels, reorder parts when necessary, and ensure that excess inventory is minimized.
- Supplier Management: Build and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure the best pricing and availability of parts. You will negotiate terms and manage deliveries to ensure the dealership has the parts it needs to operate smoothly.
- Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service to both internal departments (such as the service and sales teams) and external customers. This involves ensuring that parts are delivered in a timely manner and resolving any issues that may arise.
- Team Leadership: Manage a team of parts staff, ensuring they are trained, motivated, and performing at their best. This includes overseeing their daily tasks, providing guidance and support, and ensuring that the team operates efficiently.
- Policy Implementation: Develop and implement policies and procedures for the parts department. This includes everything from inventory control to health and safety practices.
- Profitability: Ensure that the parts department operates profitably, meeting or exceeding sales and profit targets. You’ll need to track performance, analyze data, and make adjustments to improve profitability.
- Reporting: Provide regular reports to senior management on the performance of the parts department, including sales, profit margins, and inventory levels. This will help inform business decisions and drive growth.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience as a Dealership Parts Manager in the automotive industry. You should have a strong understanding of automotive parts and the ability to manage a parts department effectively.
- Management Skills: Proven management experience is essential. You should be able to lead a team, implement policies, and drive performance.
- Automotive Parts Knowledge: A solid understanding of automotive parts is crucial. You should be able to identify parts, understand their function, and know how they fit into the overall operation of the dealership.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: You must be able to think on your feet and solve problems as they arise, whether that’s dealing with supplier issues, managing inventory challenges, or addressing customer complaints.
- South African Citizenship: Only South African citizens will be considered for this position.
