Position Overview: Buyer
As a Buyer at Objective Personnel, you will play a crucial role in our procurement process, ensuring that we source the right materials and products to meet the operational needs of our organization. You will be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with suppliers while collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to ensure that procurement activities align with business goals. Key Responsibilities:
- Sourcing and Procurement:
- Identify and source maintenance, repair, and operational products as well as ad-hoc requirements. You will be responsible for evaluating suppliers and selecting the best options based on quality, price, and delivery capabilities.
- Internal Liaison:
- Collaborate with various internal stakeholders to ensure timely procurement and delivery of raw materials, including cement, burner fuel, steel, mesh, and other necessary equipment. Your ability to communicate effectively will be vital in aligning procurement activities with operational needs.
- Purchase Requisitions and Orders:
- Accurately capture purchase requisitions and create purchase orders in a timely manner. Your attention to detail will ensure that all orders are processed correctly and efficiently.
- Supplier Follow-Up:
- Proactively follow up with suppliers to confirm that orders are processed and delivered on time and in full. You will monitor delivery schedules and address any potential delays before they impact operations.
- Stock Management:
- Ensure that suppliers maintain adequate stock levels and that purchase orders are placed in advance to avoid any disruptions in the supply chain. This requires anticipating needs based on usage patterns and production schedules.
- Issue Resolution:
- Handle any queries or discrepancies related to invoices, deliveries, or price differences. Your problem-solving skills will be essential in resolving issues swiftly and maintaining positive supplier relationships.
- Supplier Communication and Negotiation:
- Manage all communication with suppliers, negotiating the best prices and purchasing terms. Your negotiation skills will directly impact the cost-effectiveness of our procurement process.
Qualifications:
Education:
- A minimum of a Matric certificate is required. Additional qualifications in procurement or supply chain management would be advantageous.
Experience:
- At least 2 years of experience in procurement, specifically in the buying or purchasing of technical products. Familiarity with administrative tasks related to procurement is essential.
Technical Skills:
- Experience with Sage Pastel Accounting or Sage Evolution is necessary. Proficiency in these software programs will facilitate efficient processing and tracking of procurement activities.
Knowledge Base:
- General mechanical, engineering, and electrical knowledge is highly desirable. Understanding these technical aspects will enable you to make informed purchasing decisions and better communicate with suppliers and stakeholders.
Language Proficiency:
- Fluency in English is required, along with a good understanding of Afrikaans. Strong communication skills in both languages will enhance collaboration with diverse teams and suppliers.
