Key Responsibilities

- Cashbook Management:
- You will maintain accurate cashbooks, recording all cash transactions to ensure that the company’s cash flow is monitored effectively. This includes entering data into the system, reconciling daily transactions, and ensuring that any discrepancies are addressed promptly.
- Journal Entries:
- You will be responsible for preparing journal entries, which involves documenting all financial transactions accurately. This includes analyzing the nature of transactions and ensuring they are posted to the correct accounts.
- Monthly Reconciliations:
- Each month, you will conduct reconciliations of accounts to ensure that the records are accurate and up to date. This process is crucial in identifying any errors or discrepancies that need to be corrected.
- Commission Schedules:
- You will prepare commission schedules, ensuring that commissions are calculated accurately and paid out in a timely manner. This requires a strong understanding of the commission structure and attention to detail.
- Invoicing:
- Generating and sending out invoices to clients will be part of your responsibilities. You will need to ensure that all invoices are accurate and issued promptly to facilitate timely payments.
- Creditor Management:

- If the company has a fleet of vehicles, you will be responsible for managing the Nedfleet or company vehicles. This includes monitoring vehicle usage, scheduling maintenance, and ensuring compliance with insurance requirements.
- Insurance Management:
- You will assist in managing the company’s insurance policies, ensuring that all necessary coverage is in place and that premiums are paid on time. You may also liaise with insurance providers as needed.
- External Audits:
- You will play a key role in supporting external auditors during audits. This includes preparing necessary documentation, providing explanations for financial transactions, and ensuring compliance with regulations.
- Payroll Processing:
- Processing payroll accurately and on time is crucial. You will handle payroll functions, including EMP201 submissions to the South African Revenue Service (SARS). This requires a thorough understanding of tax regulations and employee benefits.
- Banking Responsibilities:
- You will be responsible for banking activities, including loading payments and ensuring that all financial transactions are processed correctly. This includes preparing bank deposits and ensuring funds are available when needed.
- VAT Reconciliations:
- You will conduct VAT reconciliations and prepare VAT201 submissions. This requires attention to detail and a good understanding of VAT legislation to ensure compliance.
- Asset Management:
- Managing the company’s assets, including tracking asset purchases, disposals, and valuations, will also be part of your duties. You will ensure that asset records are accurate and up to date.
Requirements
To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following qualifications:
- Matric Certificate: A minimum of a Matric certificate is required to ensure you have a solid educational foundation.
- Minimum 5 Years of Experience: You should have at least five years of experience in a full accounting function. This experience should encompass a wide range of bookkeeping and accounting tasks, demonstrating your ability to handle the demands of the role.
- Pastel Evolution Experience: While not mandatory, experience with Pastel Evolution accounting software is highly advantageous. Familiarity with this software can streamline your workflow and improve efficiency in managing financial records.
