Position Overview

As a Barman at our esteemed wine farm, you will play a vital role in enhancing our guests’ experiences by delivering top-notch service and a delightful beverage menu. Your expertise in mixing drinks, knowledge of South African wines, and ability to connect with guests will ensure that everyone leaves with a smile and fond memories. This position requires a professional who can thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a warm and inviting demeanor.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for various tasks that contribute to the overall success of our bar operations, including but not limited to:

• Mixing and Serving Drinks: Prepare a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, including cocktails, wines, and soft drinks, while adhering to established recipes and standards.
• Customer Interaction: Engage with guests in a friendly and approachable manner, providing recommendations based on their preferences and ensuring their satisfaction.
• Wine Knowledge: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of South African wines, including regions, varietals, and tasting notes, to offer informed suggestions to guests.
• Bar Maintenance: Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar area, ensuring all equipment is in proper working order and that stock levels are monitored.
• Collaboration: Work closely with kitchen staff and other departments to coordinate service and ensure a seamless experience for guests.
• Compliance: Adhere to all health and safety regulations and company policies to promote a safe environment for both staff and guests.

Candidate Requirements

To succeed in this role, candidates must meet the following criteria:

• Proven Experience: A minimum of two years of experience as a Bartender in a hospitality or food and beverage environment is essential. Experience in a wine-focused establishment is a plus.
• Excellent Interpersonal Skills: You must possess outstanding communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with guests and colleagues.
• Bilingual Proficiency: Fluency in both English and Afrikaans is required, as our diverse clientele appreciates service in their preferred language.
• Strong Customer Service Orientation: A genuine passion for providing excellent service and a desire to exceed guest expectations is crucial.
• Wine Knowledge: Familiarity with South African wines, including an understanding of various types, regions, and tasting notes, is essential.
• Diverse Beverage Knowledge: A well-rounded understanding of a variety of liquors, cocktails, and garnishes is necessary to craft exceptional drinks.
• Cultural Awareness: The ability to maintain professional relationships across cultures and religions is important in our inclusive environment.
• Personal Attributes: We value honesty, flexibility, accountability, and a friendly demeanor. A professional manner and attitude are non-negotiable.
• Punctuality and Self-Discipline: Reliability is key; candidates should demonstrate punctuality and a strong work ethic.

• Basic Computer Skills: Familiarity with basic computer applications and administrative tasks is an advantage, as it may be necessary for inventory management and record-keeping.
• Live-Out Position: Please note that this is a live-out position, and candidates should be prepared to commute to and from work.
