Sydsen is looking for a dedicated and qualified Workshop Manager to join an established vehicle dealership in Randburg, Johannesburg. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with a strong background in automotive repair and maintenance, as well as leadership experience in a fast-paced workshop environment.

Position Summary:
The Automotive Workshop Manager will oversee the daily operations of a busy workshop that services between 20 to 30 vehicles per day. You will be responsible for managing a team of automotive technicians, ensuring all work is completed efficiently, and maintaining the high standards of quality that our customers expect. As a critical part of the dealership’s operations, you will work closely with the service department to ensure customer satisfaction and optimal workshop performance. With six vehicle lifts available, it’s essential that you’re capable of planning and optimizing the use of these resources to achieve maximum productivity.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Team Management:
   As the Workshop Manager, you will lead a team of automotive technicians, assigning tasks, monitoring progress, and ensuring that all work is performed according to industry standards. Your leadership will be crucial in fostering a team environment that encourages productivity, professional development, and high morale.
2. Customer Service Excellence (CSI):
   You will be responsible for maintaining an average Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) score of 95%. This involves handling customer concerns, overseeing the completion of repairs, and ensuring that all vehicles leave the workshop in excellent condition. Providing outstanding service to customers is central to the dealership’s reputation, and you will play a key role in ensuring continued success in this area.
3. Workshop Operations:
   Overseeing the booking system for the workshop is a critical part of the job. You will ensure that the workshop is always operating efficiently by managing the flow of vehicles and balancing the workload across your team. With six vehicle lifts available, you will be responsible for scheduling repairs in a way that maximizes both efficiency and quality.
4. Resource Management:
   Managing workshop resources effectively is crucial for meeting daily targets and deadlines. You will monitor the availability and usage of tools, equipment, and parts to ensure that technicians have everything they need to perform their jobs well. Keeping the workshop organized and ensuring that all equipment is properly maintained is a critical part of your responsibilities.
5. Reporting and Record-Keeping:
   Maintaining detailed records of workshop activities, including completed jobs, parts used, and technician performance, is essential for both operational success and compliance with dealership standards. You will also be responsible for submitting regular reports to senior management to track progress and identify areas for improvement.
6. Continuous Improvement:
   As part of your role, you will identify areas where workshop processes can be improved, whether through adopting new technologies, streamlining operations, or investing in employee training. You will also ensure that the workshop complies with all health and safety regulations, minimizing risks to both employees and customers.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience Required:

• Automotive Qualification:
  You must be a fully qualified Workshop Manager with formal training and qualifications in automotive repair and maintenance.
• Experience:
  A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in a similar role is required. You should have a proven track record of managing a busy workshop, leading a team of technicians, and ensuring high standards of customer service. Experience in managing operations, particularly in a dealership or large automotive service center, will be highly beneficial.
• Technical Knowledge:
  A solid understanding of vehicle diagnostics, repair processes, and workshop equipment is essential. You should be able to provide technical guidance to your team and have a hands-on approach when necessary.
• Leadership Skills:
  Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for managing a team of technicians, coordinating with other departments, and providing excellent customer service. Your ability to motivate and lead a team to achieve common goals will be a key determinant of your success in this role.
