Your Role and Responsibilities:

As an Assistant Accountant, you will undertake a variety of essential tasks that are vital to our financial operations. Below is an outline of your key responsibilities:

  1. Transaction Management:
    You will be responsible for processing monthly credit card and petty cash transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies.
  2. Account Reconciliation:
    Your role will involve reconciling and reviewing monthly accruals, provisions, and repayments, ensuring that all financial records are accurate and up-to-date.
  3. General Ledger Maintenance:
    You will prepare and reconcile monthly General Ledger (GL) accounts, playing a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our financial data.
  4. Bank Reconciliation:
    A detailed reconciliation of the bank account will be part of your duties, requiring attention to detail and analytical skills.
  5. Cost Analysis:
    You will conduct cost analysis to support financial decision-making, providing insights that help shape our financial strategies.
  6. Income Journals:
    Your responsibilities will include calculating, preparing, and processing monthly income journals, ensuring that revenue is accurately recorded.
  7. Fixed Assets Management:
    Maintaining the fixed assets register will be another key responsibility, requiring diligence and organization.
  8. Financial Reporting:
    You will assist in preparing monthly Flash Reports and Management Accounts, providing vital information for senior management.
  9. Audit Preparation:
    Supporting preparations for year-end audits and BEE verifications will be essential, ensuring that the company meets all regulatory requirements.
  10. Budgeting and Forecasting:
    You will play a role in assisting with budgets and forecasting, contributing to the company’s financial planning efforts.
  11. Stock Management:
    Attending to monthly packaging stock takes will be part of your responsibilities, ensuring accurate inventory tracking.
  12. Internal Controls Monitoring:
    Assisting in monitoring and improving internal controls will be vital in ensuring the financial health of the organization.

Skills and Experience Required:

To thrive in this role, you should possess the following skills and experience:

  • Experience: A minimum of 2 to 3 years of experience in accounting functions is essential. If you are in the process of signing off your articles, we would love to hear from you!
  • Analytical Skills: A strong aptitude for figures and analysis is crucial, as you will be handling various financial tasks that require precision and insight.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel, is necessary for success in this role.

Qualifications:

  • A completed degree in Finance or a related field is required.
  • While having articles signed off is beneficial, it is not mandatory for this position.
