Key Responsibilities
In this role, your main tasks will involve ensuring machines run smoothly and efficiently. Below are some of your daily duties:
- Breakdown Repairs
- Swiftly attend to machine breakdowns, troubleshoot the issue, and make necessary repairs to ensure minimal downtime in production.
- Maintenance Planning
- Plan and carry out routine maintenance and repairs. This helps ensure machines are running at their best, preventing unexpected interruptions.
- Root Cause Analysis
- Investigate breakdowns thoroughly to understand the root cause, helping to prevent similar issues from happening in the future.
- Job Cards and Scheduled Maintenance
- Accurately complete job cards and follow the company’s Digital Maintenance System (DMS) to keep maintenance records up to date and ensure scheduled maintenance is carried out.
- Effective Machine Use
- Supervise machine operations to ensure efficient use. Report any problems, non-conformance, or deviations to the production and line management teams.
- Critical Spares Management
- Report any spare part or equipment requirements to the Maintenance Foreman or Manager to ensure machines have the necessary parts for smooth operation.
- Food Safety Compliance
- Make sure all maintenance work meets food safety standards. This is crucial in a food manufacturing environment to maintain product quality.
- Project Participation
- Take part in various projects as directed by the Maintenance Management team. These projects could involve improving machine performance, upgrades, or installing new equipment.
- Other Related Duties
- Carry out any additional duties related to the role, as assigned by the Maintenance Management team.
Qualifications and Requirements
To be considered for this Millwright position, you should meet the following qualifications:
- Educational Background: You must have completed Matric (Grade 12).
- Trade Certification: A valid Millwright Trade Test is required.
- Experience: At least 5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance, specifically within the food manufacturing industry. Familiarity with food safety standards is a strong advantage.
Skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Good communication skills to liaise with different teams, including production and management.
- Experience using Digital Maintenance Systems (DMS) or similar tools for maintenance scheduling.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach to preventing breakdowns.
