Key Responsibilities
As a Bookkeeper, your primary role will be to ensure the accurate recording and management of financial transactions. You will be responsible for a variety of important tasks, including but not limited to:
- Recording Financial Transactions:
You will accurately and promptly record financial transactions using accounting software or manual methods. This will include entering sales, purchases, and other financial activities, ensuring every detail is captured correctly to maintain the integrity of the financial records. - Managing Accounts Payable and Receivable:
A significant part of your job will involve managing accounts payable and receivable. You will process invoices, handle payment collections, and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and vendors. Your ability to communicate effectively will be essential in resolving any payment issues and ensuring timely transactions. - Bank and Credit Card Reconciliation:
Regularly reconciling bank and credit card statements will be crucial to ensure accuracy and identify any discrepancies. You will compare financial records with bank statements to ensure everything aligns, helping to prevent errors or potential fraud. - Preparing Invoices and Financial Reports:
You will prepare and issue invoices and financial statements as required. This will include creating detailed reports that summarize the company’s financial performance, which will aid in informed decision-making. - Maintaining Financial Records:
Keeping accurate and up-to-date records is vital. You will maintain ledgers, journals, and spreadsheets that reflect the company’s financial activities. Your organizational skills will ensure that all information is easily accessible and well-organized. - Assisting with Payroll Processing:
You will also assist in payroll processing, which includes calculating wages, taxes, and deductions. Ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time is critical for maintaining morale and trust within the company. - Monitoring Expenses:
Monitoring and tracking expenses to ensure they adhere to budgetary constraints will be part of your responsibilities. You will help the management team identify areas where costs can be reduced without sacrificing quality. - Preparing Financial Statements:
Assisting in the preparation of financial statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, is essential. These documents provide a snapshot of the company’s financial health and are crucial for both internal and external stakeholders. - Supporting Audits:
During audits, you will provide necessary documentation and information to auditors. Your meticulous records will help facilitate a smooth audit process and ensure compliance with financial regulations. - Collaborating with Other Departments:
You will work closely with various departments to ensure financial data is accurate and complies with relevant regulations. Good communication will be essential as you coordinate with different teams. - Staying Updated on Regulations:
Keeping informed about relevant accounting principles, laws, and regulations is vital to ensure compliance. You will participate in professional development to stay current in the field. - Providing Financial Insights:
Finally, you will support management and other stakeholders by answering financial questions and providing insights based on financial data. Your expertise will help guide strategic decisions and enhance the company’s financial performance.
Required Software Skills
To succeed in this role, you should be proficient in the following software tools:
- Xero: An online accounting software that helps you manage finances effectively.
- Payspace: A payroll and human resources solution that simplifies payroll processing.
- Adagin: A platform for managing accounts and financial transactions.
- Google Workspace: Familiarity with Google applications (like Docs, Sheets, and Drive) will help you collaborate efficiently and manage documents.
Employment Details
This is a full-time, permanent position based in the office. You will work from Monday to Friday, allowing for a balanced work-life schedule.
Salary
The salary for this role ranges from R20,000 to R25,000, depending on your level of experience and expertise. We value your skills and aim to provide a competitive compensation package.
