Introduction
Life Healthcare, a leader in private healthcare across South Africa, seeks an experienced Senior IT Infrastructure Project Manager to join its Head Office team. This role offers a unique opportunity for an IT Project Manager to oversee the implementation of critical infrastructure projects that align with Life Healthcare’s commitment to operational excellence and improved patient care. Role Overview
The Senior IT Project Manager – Infrastructure will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless delivery of infrastructure projects that meet Life Healthcare’s strategic goals. As the Project Manager, you will work closely with clients, internal stakeholders, and third-party vendors to establish project parameters, monitor performance, and make real-time adjustments to meet scope, budget, and timeline targets. The successful candidate will also play an integral role in steering committees and client-facing meetings, contributing to a culture of transparency and continual improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Portfolio and Project Management: Manage multiple IT infrastructure projects at both portfolio and individual project levels. Oversee project lifecycles from initiation through to successful completion, ensuring compliance with budgetary objectives.
- Resource Coordination: Supervise internal resources and third-party vendors, ensuring optimal allocation of personnel and materials to meet project requirements.
- Financial Oversight: Track project budgets, assist in the financial analysis of project constraints, and make adjustments as needed to maintain fiscal responsibility.
- Scope and Objective Definition: Define project scope and objectives, ensuring all stakeholders, including clients and team members, have a clear understanding of project goals.
- Progress Monitoring and Reporting: Develop and maintain detailed project plans and dashboards for tracking progress, providing updates to clients and stakeholders as necessary.
- Change Management: Oversee adjustments to project scope, schedule, and budget, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and client expectations.
- Performance Measurement: Utilize project management tools and techniques to track project performance, assess milestones, and conduct post-implementation reviews.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Foster productive relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, and vendors, facilitating effective project meetings and steering committee discussions.
- Risk Management: Identify, analyze, and mitigate project risks to ensure smooth project execution and reduce the likelihood of disruptions.
- Documentation and Compliance: Maintain comprehensive project documentation, ensuring adherence to Life Healthcare’s governance standards and ISO compliance for IT infrastructure projects.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Project Management Certification: Possession of advanced project management certifications, such as PMP (Project Management Professional), PRINCE2, or Agile methodologies, is essential. Postgraduate qualification in project management is highly advantageous.
Professional Experience
- 5-9 Years in IT Project Management: Demonstrated experience managing complex IT infrastructure and cloud-based projects is required.
- ICT Infrastructure Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of ICT Infrastructure, especially in Networking, Security, and Azure Cloud, is crucial to succeed in this role.
- Client-Facing Experience: Proficient in client relations, with a history of maintaining positive, productive relationships with both internal and external stakeholders.
Technical Skills and Competencies
- IT Infrastructure Proficiency: Strong technical knowledge of infrastructure components, including cloud platforms (Azure), networking, and cybersecurity measures.
- Project Management Methodologies: Familiarity with Safescrum, Waterfall, and Hybrid methodologies to guide the management of varying project types and ensure compliance with Life Healthcare’s internal governance.
- Analytical Abilities: Ability to analyze and solve complex problems, adapt to change, and make decisions based on financial, organizational, and operational data.
- Leadership and Delegation: Skilled in delegating tasks, mentoring junior staff, and leveraging the team’s strengths to optimize performance.
- Communication Skills: Proficient in verbal and written communication, with the ability to clearly articulate project requirements, updates, and challenges to diverse audiences.
Preferred Competencies
- Design Thinking: Familiarity with design thinking principles is an added advantage, particularly in projects requiring creative problem-solving and user-centered approaches.
- Interpersonal and Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills, critical for engaging with diverse teams and facilitating vendor relations.
- Attention to Detail: Excellent organizational skills with a meticulous approach to tracking and documenting project milestones, progress, and outcomes.
