Position Overview
Life Bedford Gardens Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse specializing in theatre scrub to join its surgical team. Reporting to the Unit Manager, Karen Shunmugam, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring optimal care for patients undergoing surgical procedures, in line with hospital standards and Life Healthcare’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Financial Management:
- Accurately manage theatre clocking time for effective billing.
- Charge consignment stock, equipment, and prostheses per policy.
- Participate in regular stock-taking and manage consignment stock according to hospital policy.
- Theatre Equipment and Instrumentation:
- Ensure correct use of theatre equipment by educating and supervising staff.
- Patient Care:
- Collect necessary pre-operative patient information and conduct post-operative visits.
- Support surgeons by assisting during procedures and ensuring patient comfort.
- People Management:
- Provide theatre-specific training and assess staff competence.
- Collaborate with the Unit Manager to monitor normal and overtime hours.
- Ensure the team operates within their scope of practice.
- SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) Management:
- Promote the use of personal protective equipment and ensure compliance with ISO standards.
- Oversee medical waste disposal and infection control processes.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management:
- Attend review meetings to build relationships with internal stakeholders.
- Report unresolved issues to the Unit Manager to maintain healthy relations with external stakeholders.
Requirements
- General Nursing Degree or Diploma and active registration with SANC.
- Relevant experience and technical skill set.
- Knowledge of the private healthcare industry is advantageous.
- Proficiency in computer use is an added benefit.
- Driver’s license with the ability to travel if needed.
